Athletes of all abilities are counting down to this year’s Lumary City-Bay Fun Run.

Athletes of all abilities are counting down to this year’s Lumary City-Bay Fun Run.

There’s just two weeks to go until the popular event, and organisers are urging everyone to get out and enjoy the day no matter what their skill level.

Runners, walkers and wheelchair participants in the 49th annual event have chosen between 3,6 and 12km distances, plus a 21.1km half marathon.

The fully accessible September 17 event, sponsored by Lumary and supported by the Sunday Mail, will also raise funds for more than 150 charities, including Beyond Blue, the Animal Welfare League and FightMND.

Disability service provider Novita has entered a team into the race to raise awareness about accessibility in community sports for people living with a disability.

Michael Neroni, Chloe Pexton and Dan Tredrea will be competing in the 6km event as part of Team Novita, which has raised more than $1600 to support Novita’s community inclusion programs.

“It’s an iconic Adelaide event and it’s great to see that they’re making an effort to make it accessible for everyone,” Mr Tredrea said.

“Approximately one in six people in Australia live with disability, and Novita is committed to breaking down the barriers so that everyone has the chance to participate in sport.

“Through participating in the City-Bay, we hope to increase awareness for accessible community activities.
We’ve been proud to work with the event and look forward to continuing our involvement”

Race Director Joe Stevens reminded participants that it was a “Fun-Run”,
“Go out and have fun,” He said
